“I will always guide you. I will satisfy your needs in a land that is baked by the sun…” (Isa 58:11)
Depending upon where one lives in the world, “climate change” will mean different things to different people. As Christians, we will not all be able to follow our conscience, and go along with some of the agendas being presented; but we will each have to do what we feel is best, for our respective situations. In the fog of all of the international media, I think sometimes, God’s Word can get a little lost. I often see something in God’s Word that seems to speak effectively to many of the issues at hand. Today’s text for the Light In The Clouds Weekly, is definitely one of those verses.
“In a land that is baked with sun,” God’s promise is that He will still provide what is needed, somehow, some way. Surely, the true Christian’s response, has to be less reading of the “news” and more leaning into Christ, and upon His “EXPRESS” (1 Tim 4:1) Word, for these times we live in.
I am happy to see that there are a number of very different faith back grounds receiving our weekly email. I may not always say things the way you personally believe. But that’s what can unite us; our differences can and should unite us all in wanting to follow Christ more closely. Our common love for God, and our desire for Christ, in the life is what is needed now, not tomorrow.
In response to what we are seeing in the news; its simply time to get back to the basics. Dont believe all of the media panic. God says it different: today’s text promises us that, according to the need, God will make us stronger, so that we are personally, like “a garden that has plenty of water.” Many “prophets” and pundits are arising and joining Big Eco’s co-opting of genuine environmental concerns to agendas much more sinister. Almost all of the “warnings” we are seeing on the internet are about things that we both cannot know, nor do we need to know.
As a Christian brother of mine said to me in a recent email: “Those trusting in God do not need to know everything that will happen before it happens, just understand things when they do. Jesus made it clear several times that it is not for us to know things ahead of time.”
I will always guide you. I will satisfy your needs in a land that is baked by the sun. I will make you stronger. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water. You will be like a spring whose water never runs dry. (Isa 58:11, NiRV)
THE FAST THAT GOD HAS CHOSEN
The divorce between outward rites and inward piety has been the curse of every age. When the Pharisees were plotting our Lord’s death, they refused to enter Pilate’s hall. Not the bowed head, but the broken heart; not the sackcloth and ashes of the flesh, but the contrition of the soul!
Notice the three paragraphs descriptive of the experiences of the devout and consecrated soul:
(1.) The conditions of blessedness, Isa 58:6-7.
(2.) The successive items which go to make a blessed life, Isa 58:8-12.
(3.) The true Sabbath-keeping, Isa 58:13-14. Primarily, it is inward, not outward. Let us be on our watch against the entrance into our hearts of all thoughts that would break the holy inward calm. Remember to imitate Nehemiah’s instructions: Neh 13:16-22. Let the divine peace rule within and be as a sentinel keeping the outward gate, Col 3:15; Phil 4:7. Cease to follow your own ways, or find your own pleasures, or speak your own words. Delight yourself in God; so shall you sit with Christ in heavenly places and feed at the heavenly table. Isa 58:11 (HRB) And YAHWEH shall always guide you, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
